I see that DfE is considering plans to allow the brightest students to miss out GCSEs and go straight to study A-level programmes in Key Stage 4...
Colleagues at the DfE are looking to copy Singapore...
In Singapore, about 20% of students take A-levels without having sat GCSEs or their equivalents. Schools could be measured on an 'advanced baccalaureate' from next year.
