I visited Forge Valley Community School this afternoon. Forge Valley opened in September 2011 in a brilliant new 'Building Schools for the Future' building.
It is always encouraging to visit a new and inspiring school building where the school team have that unique opportunity to rethink, reengineer and re-imagine and it was great to have the opportunity to talk to Diane McKinlay, the headteacher, about the Cutlers Education Project and to hear about the work the school is doing on sport, enterprise, STEM and engineering. It was really helpful to have the opportunity to see how the Cutlers project and the work we are doing to co-create a new competencies/skills and curriculum framework supported by a learning and skills passport could connect with the work they are doing at Forge Valley. The building is fantastic and it was also interesting to see their shop and the hear about the work they have done to develop a coaching culture at Forge Valley Community School. Great stuff!
