I was at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) Knowledge Transfer Centre again yesterday at the celebration of two important initiatives dedicated to closing the skills gap for manufacturing businesses... the AMRC Training Centre and the National Skills Academy for Nuclear Manufacturing.
The event also provided an opportunity to talk about the new Cutlers' Skills Curriculum and Ambassador Programme and the University Technical College (UTC). The highlights involved Nick Clegg, Deputy Prime Minister, who gave a ministerial address supporting skills development, Hamid Mughal from Rolls Royce who talked passionately about the critical importance of world class skills and the opportunities for talented young people in his business, Pam Liversidge, Master Cutler, delivered a short workshop session on the Cutlers' project and Tony Tweedy from Sheffield City Council who talked about the City Deal.
