Following on from the Cutlers' "Made in Sheffield" programme, and using the curriculum and skills frameworks already developed, the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is working with Firth Park Community College, Forge Valley Community School and Meadowhead School and Langages College to provide a unique opportunity for sixty of their young people to gain insight into the workings of the hospital trust and appreciate the huge range of opportunities there are to work for one of the largest employers in the Sheffield City Region.
The Induction Day for the sixty Ambassadors has been organised and was delivered by Yvonne Byrne and her team and provided the Ambassadors with an opportunity to meet the Trust Champions who will be working with each of the schools and will be supporting the Ambassadors. The students also had the opportunity to visit the porters lodge, the laundry, Firth 3 ward and the clinical engineering department. It was a great day, well organised and focused around the skills, attitudes and behaviours the Trust as a major Sheffield employer is looking for in its future employees. The Ambassadors are a great group of young people; bright, articulate and full of ideas. They really behaved well, asked great questions and learnt a lot about the way the hospital works.
