This is important stuff since we spend so much time doing things that have little impact on learning and student outcomes. We need to be constantly reviewing what we do and asking ourselves questions about what works!
In Visible Learning, John Hattie has moved away from the 'What Works and What Doesn't' to look at which strategies work really well, and which have such a marginal effect that it is not worth the bother? John Hattie's research again reinforces the importance of the coaching process and shows us that it's feedback that really makes the difference alongside what the student brings and the quality of teaching! We need to embed master coaching, deliberate practice and hard work at the heart of the learning process in schools.
This is my first visit to your blog. I am just dropping a note (feedback) to let you know of my visit.
