ENTRUST "EMPOWERING INSPIRATIONAL CURRICULUM DESIGN" CONFERENCE

I was at the entrust  'National Leadership Conference' at St George's Park, Burton-on-Trent today.

I was in powerful and passionate company; speaking alongside Nancy Stewart and Guy Claxton to an audience of Staffordshire headteachers, teachers and governors. Nancy Stewart was Senior Adviser with The National Strategies and more recently supported the Early Years Foundation Stage review team in developing the EYFS 2012, and had a leadership role in national programmes including Every Child a Talker. She has a strong interest in child development and playful early years pedagogy, and has developed national materials in this field. Nancy was part of the team that compiled the revised non-statutory guidance Development Matters in Early Years Foundation Stage (2012). Guy Claxton is Co-Director of the Centre for Real-World Learning (CrL), and Professor of the Learning Sciences, at the University of Winchester. His programme "Building Learning Power" – BLP –is a national and international ‘brand’ and success story. He has developed a range of materials, courses and forms of consultancy that have proved hugely successful in helping teachers develop a ‘learning to learn’ culture in their classrooms and schools. BLP systematically helps students develop the general habits of mind that underpin confident, curious, creative learning. The BLP approach is now in thousands of schools and local authorities around the UK, as well as in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Chile and Argentina.
