I am not sure why it is but a lifetime of working with schools has shown
me time and time again, that culture beats strategy every time!
And
recognising that culture is 'the way we do things around here', unless
schools, authorities, chains, partnerships, cooperatives and
organisations develop, foster and nurture a culture of excellence, the
very best you can hope for is ordinary. Extraordinary comes when people
strive for excellence, when their passions are aroused, when they are
trusted to do it their way and when they are given the support and
encouragement to take risks, to experiment and to be creative. And
interestingly, in my experience over forty years, it doesn't matter
which scheme or programme or approach you then adopt to release the
magic... as long as you believe!
