Throughout
my working life, people have told me that things were impossible and that some
things couldn’t be changed or achieved; North Yorkshire was too big, York was
too small, Leeds was too challenging, some schools were impossible and some
children simply couldn’t learn. They were wrong!
Over the last twenty years, I have had the privilege of working with talented, committed and passionate colleagues in schools in York, Leeds, Nottingham, Sheffield, Lincoln and Guernsey to prove that all things are possible, if you believe. Together, we raised expectations and, through a combination of persistence, determination, perseverance and hard work, we developed learning leadership, beautiful systems and intelligent accountability which together transformed outcomes, built brilliant learning communities and created new, unique and incredibly successful approaches to school development and improvement.
