At the end of yet another academic year it is important to reflect on the fact that we are challenged all the time to do better, and to do it faster and more efficiently and more effectively... challenged to do what many people would say was the impossible....
I have been releasing the magic and working on 'the impossible' with some extraordinary colleagues for a long time. Of course, the sceptics and the critics will ask why we haven't cracked it and already delivered brilliant learning and fantastic outcomes everywhere. I wish it were that easy but poverty, deprivation, worklessness and a fundamental lack of discipline have conspired against us and often prevented young people achieving good outcomes. However, we know what it takes and I have learned from countless school visits over the years that talented and amazing colleagues up and down the country are releasing the magic and driving up standards and outcomes in some of the most challenging contexts. These colleagues have the passion, the discipline, the intellectual rigour, the materials and are delivering real magic and achieving world class outcomes.
The challenge is to work together to learn to do this consistently for all young people across all schools.
