Business Champions have always been a vital element of the
Cutlers’ 'Better Learners, Better Workers' (BLBW) scheme. They support and
mentor their groups of ambassadors during the two year programme, helping them to
access a high quality world of work (WOW) programme, and enable them to develop the
essential skills and attributes required to thrive and succeed at school and in
the world of work.
Feedback from schools suggests that the ambassadors are enthusiastic and motivated by their experiences on the programme but there was a need to maintain the momentum, interest and energy between ambassador sessions. We have therefore added WOW Factor sessions to the offer we make to schools and their ambassadors. Every term schools organise sessions in schools where the Business
Champion has the opportunity to meet the ambassadors to review the progress the ambassadors are
making and provide an opportunity for the Business Champion to share their
passion and enthusiasm for the world of work, their sector and the 'Better
Learners, Better Workers' programme.
These WOW Factor sessions provide a school-based
opportunity for the Business Champion, Enterprise Adviser or other sector
representative to talk to the Ambassadors about the World of Work. The emphasis
in these brief sessions is on skills, careers, opportunities and the
world of work and at the end of each session the students will be provided with
some key messages. These WOW Factor sessions focus on:
- Why Teamwork matters in the World of Work;
- Why Skills matter in the World of Work;
- Careers and Opportunities in the World of Work.
