I met with Yvonne Byrne and Cheryl Plant this morning to review where we are with the 'Better Learners, Better Workers' NHS programme. The programme is one of the original strands of 'Made in Sheffield' and Yvonne's passion, enthusiasm and commitment has had such an impact on so many young people over the last six years.
We now have young people in apprenticeships and many going on to university and college to study health and social care, pharmacy, midwifery, nursing and medicine. It is encouraging that we have some great schools working with us on this strand... Fir Vale, Stocksbridge and Westfield students will be starting the programmes in Year 10 and Fir Vale, Forge Valley, Meadowhead, Stocksbridge and Westfield will all have Year 11 ambassadors finishing their programmes and receiving their passports and gold certificates on 28th February. We are all looking forward to seeing more of these talented and wonderful young people going on to careers within the NHS and healthcare sector.
