SKILLS, CHARACTER AND KNOWLEDGE!

The national and international research very clearly identifies that we need to re-engineer and re-imagine the curriculum in schools to develop skills, character and knowledge, to meet the needs of the world of work and to equip our children and young people for life in a rapidly changing world.

Our children need to be increasingly adaptable, creative, innovative and aware of their own strengths and weaknesses. To build a world class learning landscape we must deliver academic and vocational excellence alongside character and skills. The research indicates that a competency based approach enables students not just to acquire subject knowledge but to develop the skills and abilities to understand, use and apply it within the context of their wider learning and life. It also offers students a more holistic and coherent way of learning which allows them to make connections and apply knowledge across different subject areas.
