THE CUTLERS' ‘BETTER LEARNERS, BETTER WORKERS’ PROGRAMME …RELEASING THE WOW FACTOR!

The Cutlers' ‘Better Learners, Better Workers’ (BLBW)programme is going from strength to strength. We are now working with the Careers and Enterprise Company (CEC) who are supporting the further development of programmes in Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham schools and academies. We have also secured matched funding from the Arts Council England via Cape UK to support the further development of the BLBW Arts and Culture strand over the next two years.

We have made progress in all three new local authorities and we are now working with 29 secondary schools, academies and colleges and around 584 BLBW ambassadors from across Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. Our CEC target is to reach 32 schools, academies and colleges and have a total of 1000 young people participating in BLBW activity in 2016/17 across South Yorkshire. We are also working with the BLBW Lead Schools (Centres of Excellence) to deliver the Y8 BLBW WOW Factor Enrichment Programme. This programme was agreed with the CEC to reach an additional group of young people from the BLBW Lead Schools (Centres of Excellence) we have established in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. These students are being offered a ‘lighter’ school-based version of BLBW, which would enable us to test the wider transferability of a BLBW Enrichment Programme to all South Yorkshire schools.
