COPMANTHORPE BANNERS

I attended the Copmanthorpe Banners launch event last night at Copmanthorpe Explore Library.

Groups and organisations in Copmanthorpe have created a unique set of banners to celebrate community life in the village. The project started with a conversation between the librarians and local artist Emily Harvey. The project shows just how active the community of Copmanthorpe is, with up to 40 banners either being made or finished. Sports clubs, children’s groups, craft groups, churches, library staff and volunteers have all been working with local artist Emily Harvey since June to make the banners. Each A2 sized banner is made using a variety of mediums such as fabric, paint, pens, embroidery and textiles and the results are simply wonderful! This is a sample of the work...

Copmanthorpe Banners is funded by the Friends of Copmanthorpe Library and Explore Labs. You can see the exhibition at Copmanthorpe Explore Library or on line at www.facebook.com/copbanners! It then goes on a tour across Copmanthorpe until the end of 2020 visiting The Annexe Cafe, the Old School Medical Practice, St Giles' Church and The Rec! Make sure you catch it if you can!!
