Success!

It's strange when you understand the school improvement research that we seem to be heading down the current rather narrow and fragmented approach to school improvement.
Why strange, well when you really understand the outstanding examples where schools have been transformed by strong, dynamic leaders working with talented and committed teams. We all know that success is about passionate and committed colleagues who are prepared to go the extra mile for their students but schools don't exist in isolation; connecting with around 15% of a child's life. Over the last ten to fifteen years I have seen it time and time again and it has proved to me that success is a co-operative and collaborative activity; that success is critically about high expectations, self-esteem and the development of character but is also about doing it as part of a network who understand, grow and develop the communities they serve.
