CHANGING THE PACE!

The CBI/Pearson education and skills survey 2013 highlights the need to raise ambition for all young people in our schools.
They identify the most important factors employers weigh up when recruiting new employees. These are their attitudes to work (78%), their general aptitudes (57%) and literacy and numeracy skills (50%). These aspects rank well ahead of academic results alone (37%). The report stresses once again  that we still have a long tail of underachievement in basic literacy and numeracy.
Employers are frustrated that not enough young people leave school having had a high quality experience of the world of work and few young people have developed personal qualities like self-management and positive attitudes to work. You can download and read the report at the CBI website... www.cbi.org.com
