Cuts!

I know that we are facing some serious issues with the level of the cuts in local authorities budgets...

However, having led a public/private education company for the last ten years and working in a small and lean local authority before that, I know that there is a real opportunity here. If we are prepared to really face the future and put in place services that are fit for purpose and that really make a difference we could strip out a huge amount of the irrelevant, the redundant and the unnecessary which simply detracts from the real business of school improvement. I know it is hard but if we refocus our collective energies and efforts where it matters we can change the outcomes which so often appear stuck and impossible. We need to build co-operative and collaborative communities that work together and learn together and we must coach and support colleagues in this new way of working.
