ANOTHER DAY IN SHEFFIELD!

I was over in Sheffield again this morning for the Cutlers' Employers breakfast meeting.  The Cutlers' Made in Sheffield Programme is developing at a pace. The scheme started with plans for one school in the engineering and advanced manufacturing sector. We currently have nine schools and the two Sheffield colleges working with us across six employment sectors with over 300 student ambassadors. Next year the scheme looks likely to have fourteen schools and two colleges working across ten employment sectors with over 700 students ambassadors and with the potential to reach around 20,000 students!

QUALITY
The critical element for the Cutlers Company is that we maintain the quality and continue to develop the effectiveness and the sustainability of the scheme... too many schemes have come and gone over the years. We aim to connect as many world of work elements in the Sheffield City Region as we can around one coherent high quality approach to maximise the impact on young people's skills and abilities and make the best possible use of all available resources.

SKILLS
The scheme is backed by an agreed and employer driven skill set which students develop through a two year world of work programme developed and supported by the relevant sector.

PASSPORT
The development of the skill set is recognised through a quality assured Cutlers Made in Sheffield skills passport which is accepted and valued by employers, colleges and universities in Sheffield.

AMBASSADORS
The world of work programme targets a group of sector ambassadors who are recruited and selected by the sector. These young people act as advocates for the sector and the scheme and promote and support the scheme back in school.

RESOURCES
The scheme is supported by a range of high quality resources developed with employers and schools. Each sector adds to this resource bank and enriches and develops the scheme.

Let me know if you want to find out more about this brilliant scheme!
