THE CUTLERS' COMPANY EDUCATION COMMITTEE!

I was in Sheffield yesterday meeting with the Cutlers' Education Committee which is guiding the Cutlers' 'Better Learners, Better Workers' scheme.
It was wonderful to hear Doug Liversidge, who chairs the Cutlers' education committee, George Kilburn, the Chief Executive of the Cutlers' Company, John Barber, who leads the Workwise team delivering the engineering programmes, Sarah Ward, who now works with me to support the programmes, and various business champions for the engineering schools, all talking so positively and enthusiastically about what we have achieved. It is great that employers in Sheffield, and now increasingly in Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham, led by the Cutlers' Company, have worked together with schools to develop a model that supports the delivery of success at school and maintains the focus on the basics but also produces young people who have the skills and behaviours that are essential in the world of work.

The Cutlers' 'Better Learners, Better Workers' Programme aims to develop the essential skills and abilities need to thrive and succeed in the world of work, to shape character, to develop resilience and grit and to nurture innovation and creativity.
After six successful years we are now looking to further develop 'Better Learners, Better Workers' with more employment sectors, more schools and colleges and importantly more ambassadors. If you want to find out more about the work we are doing or help us please let me know.
