Attended a wonderful concert at the Bridgewater Hall last night.
The BBC Philharmonic played Sibelius' third and seventh symphonies with Beethoven's third piano concerto played by Martin Roscoe sandwiched in between. Sibelius' seventh symphony is one of my favourite pieces of music and is simply extraordinary: it was completed in 1924, it's a one-movement
symphony and is regarded as "Sibelius's most remarkable compositional achievement".
Great music, well performed at the end of yet another interesting week!
