Assessment for Learning!

Assessment for learning is based on the principle that learners will improve most if they understand why and what they are learning.

It is not an add-on or a project; it is central to effective teaching and learning; part of effective planning that develops the capacity for self assessment and helps learners know how to improve.  Assessment for learning focuses on how pupils learn. It recognises all educational achievement and promotes understanding of goals and criteria. It is at the heart of outstanding classroom practice because it is sensitive, constructive and fosters motivation.
