MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

"We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee." Marian Wright Edelman

We must continue to make a difference for those children and young people who need us most. But it's hard when colleagues are having to work so hard and the climate and the context are so negative!
If we live and learn within a command and control environment, which restricts creativity, limits ideas and blocks imagination, we tend to get boring, mundane and ordinary teaching and learning. But, wherever you look we are over managed but we lack leadership. In politics, in the health service and in education we have so many people who think they know how things work but so few people know how to develop strategic thinking or to create the conditions for growth. What people fail to understand is that managers plan, budget, organise and control. They work to maintain the status quo! What we need to understand is that leaders establish direction, align people behind ideas and motivate and inspire. They want to create the future!
