FIRTH PARK ACADEMY!

I visited Firth Park Academy in Sheffield yesterday morning.

My visit was to see Zeena Rasheed, who wanted to talk to me about her ideas for Firth Park Cultural Ambassadors and how we could link this with the Cutlers' Made in Sheffield programme. Firth Park have passionately embraced the ambassador programme and it was great to meet Zeena who is Associate Assistant Principal: Arts and Extended Services at the academy; her enthusiasm for the cultural elements of the curriculum and her energy and commitment to her students shone through our meeting. Zeena is passionate about the arts and sport and can see enormous benefits for her students in engaging with the cultural sector in Sheffield and through it their world of work.

Firth Park colleagues have worked brilliantly on the Cutlers' Made in Sheffield programme and their current ambassadors, working in the engineering and advanced manufacturing and the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust projects, are some of the real stars and wonderful examples for other young people.  This is an exciting place in equally exciting times and it was also great to see Chris Keen, the headteacher, and Gary Simmons, deputy headteacher, whose collective drive, determination and focus on the things that matter is clearly transforming the school and the outcomes their students are achieving.
