FIRTH PARK ACADEMY

I was at Firth Park Academy in Sheffield again today.

I had an interesting meeting at Firth Park Academy with Chris Keen where I outlined the fact that the pilot phase was ending and we wanted to review, evaluate and further develop the work we have been doing. We wanted headteachers strategic overview and to know how the schools see the future for the programme, how we can make it sustainable and how we might continue to fund developments alongside the maintenance of the elements and aspects schools value and want to keep.

Firth Park has had some amazing young people on the programme and Chris Keen stressed the nature of his population and the need to focus the curriculum on preparing his students for jobs and the world of work as well as securing the best basket of qualifications possible. It was great to talk to Chris Keen about the programme since Firth Park Academy is one of the real success stories because the programme has been so positively embraced by staff and students in both the advanced manufacturing and engineering and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS trust strands.

Exciting place in equally exciting times!
